Pastor Steve Marquedant – Elder

Steve MarquedantPastor Steve came to Christ at the age of 11. He graduated from Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College in 1979 with a B.A. in theology as the Valedictorian of his class. He joined Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Ontario, CA in 1978. He came on full-time staff in 1980 and was ordained as an Elder in 1982. In 1989 he became the primary preaching pastor, a role he joyfully carried on since. He married Becky in 1976. They have three married adult children, Ben (his wife Cassie and their daughters Zoe and Morrigan), Stephanie Botterbusch (husband Adam and their 1 year old son, Braxton) and recently married son Jon (wife Rachel). All three families are part of the church, along with youngest daughter Jessica, who is engaged to church member Eldon. Pastor Steve’s primary focus is the preaching ministry of the church, pastoral oversight, and the administration of the church’s day-to-day affairs. He is extensively involved with our national Association, ARBCA, and our local Association, SCARBC. Blog articles by Pastor Steve can be found at here and at Reformed Baptist Fellowship. Mike Gabriel – Deacon

Mike GabrielMike is from Arizona and came to California for college where he has remained. Shortly after college, he met his wife Linda and they were married. While both grew up in a Christian home and made professions of faith at young ages, they did not come to learn about the Doctrines of Grace until after they were married. He and his wife, Linda, came with their family to SGBC in 1996. Their 3 children have grown up in the Reformed Faith and are now young adults. Mike has owned and operated a lawn care company since 2006 with the help of his wife.

Richard McClendon – Deacon

Richard McClendonRichard was born in Oregon and, for most of his youth, raised in the Los Angeles area. He met his wife, Roz, in high school and they have been married since 1986. He and his wife were converted in their early twenties and began attending SGBC in 1988. Together they raised four children and are grandparents of 5. Richard works as a high school teacher and enjoys his calling.

Adam Botterbusch – Deacon

Adam BotterbuschAdam grew up in Pennsylvania in a Christian home, but only subscribed to the Doctrines of Grace later in life. He met his wife Stephanie during a business trip to California. After marrying, they resided in Pennsylvania for two years, then relocated to California in 2011. They became members at SGBC soon after arriving to California. Adam was installed as a Deacon in July 2013. They have one son. When not spending time at church or at home with family, Adam works as an Industrial Engineer.
